Patios, walls & more

Hardscaping Serving Phenix City, AL and Columbus, GA

Pavers and stone give a yard its bones — the patio you actually use, the walkway that doesn't turn to mud, the wall that holds a slope in place. Greenz builds hardscapes on the base prep our red-clay soil demands, so what we set stays level long after the trailer pulls away.

Built on the Base, Not Just the Surface

Hardscaping that survives clay soil, hard rain, and hot summers.

Around the Chattahoochee Valley, hardscapes fail from the bottom up — clay heaves when it's wet, shrinks when it's dry, and a patio laid on a thin base shows it within a couple of seasons. Every project below starts with excavation and compacted base material sized to the job. Browse the work we build, or see all of our services.

Patios & Walkways

A good patio moves your living space outside; a good walkway keeps everyone out of the mud getting there. We build both from pavers and stone over an excavated, compacted base, with the slight pitch that sends rainwater away from the surface — and away from your house.

  • Paver and stone patios sized for how you'll actually use them
  • Walkways and stepping paths that connect the yard cleanly
  • Excavated, compacted base with drainage pitch built in

Driveways

A driveway takes more abuse than any other surface on your property — vehicle weight every day, plus everything Valley weather throws at it. We build paver driveways with the deeper base and edge restraints that vehicle loads demand, for an entrance that upgrades the whole front of the house.

  • Paver driveways built for daily vehicle weight
  • Deeper compacted base and edge restraints to prevent spreading
  • Patterns and borders that fit the style of your home

Retaining Walls

Sloped lots are common on both sides of the river, and red clay pushes hard against anything trying to hold it back — especially soaked. We build retaining walls with proper footing, backfill, and drainage behind the wall, turning unusable slopes into flat, plantable, livable space.

  • Segmental block and stone walls that hold a grade for the long haul
  • Drainage and backfill behind the wall, where wall failures start
  • Terracing that turns slopes into usable yard and bed space

Seating Walls

A seating wall is the quiet workhorse of a patio — it frames the space, gives every gathering extra seats without extra furniture, and anchors the design. We build them at true seat height with capped tops, usually as part of a patio or fire pit project, sometimes as the finishing touch on one that's already there.

  • Seat-height walls with smooth cap stones
  • Straight or curved runs that frame patios and fire features
  • Built-in seating that never needs to be dragged out of the garage

Fire Pits & Fireplaces

Valley falls and winters are made for a fire in the backyard. We build stone and block fire pits and outdoor fireplaces with proper fire-rated interiors, set on a hardscaped surround — so the feature that gathers everyone is built to do it safely, season after season.

  • Custom fire pits and outdoor fireplaces in stone or block
  • Fire-rated interior construction, built to last
  • Paver surrounds and seating walls designed as one space

Common questions

Questions We Hear a Lot

Will pavers hold up in our red clay soil?

They will if the base is built right. Red clay moves with moisture, so we focus on excavation, base material, and compaction before a single paver goes down — that's what keeps patios and walkways level for years.

What hardscaping do you build?

Paver patios and walkways, driveways, retaining walls, seating walls, and fire pits and fireplaces — for homes around Phenix City, AL and the Columbus, GA area.

Can you combine a patio with landscaping?

Yes, and it usually turns out better that way. Because we do landscape design and installation too, we can plan the beds, lighting, and drainage around your new patio as one project instead of two.

How do hardscape estimates work?

Call or text (706) 786-9664 or send the estimate form. We'll walk the space with you, talk materials and layout, and give you a clear scope for the work.

How We Scope a Hardscape Project

The price of a patio isn't really in the pavers — it's in the ground underneath and the prep it takes to build on it correctly.

We walk the site before we scope anything: how the ground slopes, where water goes in a storm, what the access looks like for equipment and material. Then we scope the excavation, base, and surface as one job. Hardscaping also pairs naturally with the rest of what we do — many projects fold in landscape design and planting around the new patio, or clearing before the build starts.

Common scoping factors

  • Slope and grade — how much cut, fill, or wall the site needs.
  • Where storm water runs now, and where it should run after.
  • Square footage, paver or stone selection, and pattern.
  • Equipment access to the build area.
  • Whether planting, lighting, or drainage should ride along in the same project.
